Hospice butterfly release honors loved ones

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)- Hundreds of butterflies were released at Utica College, Wednesday night, during the Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Development Council's Annual Butterfly Release celebration.

During the event, those in attendance sponsored a butterfly in memory of loved ones. More than 300 butterflies were released.

"The butterfly does symbolize a meaningful emblem of those who have passed," said Debbie Cotton, Hospice Development Council. "I think it's very significant to the many who participate."

About 500 people turned out for the event.
