Runners lace-up shoes for Boston victims

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local runners laced up their shoes, Monday afternoon, in honor of those affected by the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Runners met at the Parkway Recreation Center to participate in a fundraiser for the "OneFundBoston.org."

The Sneaker Store in New Hartford spearheaded the local effort. The show of support for the event was shocking for a local man who helped organize the event.

"It was actually a huge surprise, from day one, we saw the community support," said Brian Stevens of Holland Patent. "It really amazes me just how strong the community was in support of it."

Stevens, an avid runner, was at the Boston Marathon last week. He said he passed the finish line about an hour before the first bomb went off. He and his loved ones were able to avoid injury.
