Day 2 of trial for man accused of abusing 8-week-old daughter

UTICA N.Y. (WKTV) - Day 2 of the trial for the 20-year-old man accused of abusing his 8-week old daughter begins in Oneida County Court.

Jonathon Greener is charged with 5 counts of assault in the second degree for allegedly fracturing 6 of baby Jaylee's bones between November 2011 to January 2012.

Perhaps the most powerful testimony came from the 8-week-old baby's mother and Greener's live-in girlfriend at the time, Brittany Hollenger.

She testified under oath today that Greener caused severed injuries to Jaylee after manhandling her on multiple different occasions causing fractures, bleeding, and bruising.

"He grabbed her hands and said her name and threw them back into the basinette," said Hollenger.

However, during cross examination, the defense pointed out that Hollenger had originally told police and investigators that Greener had never touched the baby and she believed the infant suffered from brittle bone disease.

"Remember when the detective told you the only way you are going to get Jaylee back is if Jon is out of the picture and you told him if he has to be out of the picture that is what I'll do," said the defense. "Up until that point, you had never mentioned to anyone any of these allegations of Jon injuring the baby."

Hollinger then went on to admit that she lied to a grand jury and to police when she had originally said Greener did not harm the baby.

On Tuesday in court, she said he did in fact manhandle the infant. She only lied because Greener told her to and she was scared to disobey him.

Testimony continues on Wednesday. A jury is expected to reach a verdict by Thursday.
