Emergency excavation planned on Utica's South Side

By WKTV News

UTICA, NY(WKTV) - The Mayor of Utica is calling for an emergency excavation of Halleck Ravine.

The ravine is located on the city's South Side.

Mayor David Roefaro says the excavation is necessary because more rain is on its way.

Crews will be carrying out the excavation behind Dr. Cheron's office at 2305 Genesee Street starting Tuesday morning.

The move comes as the mayor's flood prevention plan takes shape following relentless rains we received last week.

There was so much rain last week that a number of areas in South Utica are still working to clear mud and debris.
