Grant money given to MVCC's refugee program

(WKTV)- The prospect of a college education may become a reality for some area refugees.

Mohawk Valley Community College received a grant for about $7,000 from Bank of America for the college's New Citizens Academy

The academy is set to start in 2014 and will help low income high need refugee students prepare for college.

"First of all it's a great cause," said Sondra Butcher, consumer market manager. "We love supporting businesses and everything in our our neighborhoods. It's where we live, so it's an important venture for us."
