Ithaca community rallies behind family of woman killed in tractor-trailer accident

ITHACA, N.Y. (WKTV)--An online fundraiser has been set up to help with expenses for the family of a woman killed when a tractor-trailer crashed into an Ithaca restaurant last week.

27-year-old Amanda Bush was the mother of a 14-month-old girl according to the GoFundMe fundraising page. The site aims to raise $20,000 for Bush's family and her daughter.

Bush was working as a bartender at Simeon's restaurant on Friday when a tractor-trailer slammed into the building, killing her and injuring five others.

The victim's family has designated the United Way of Tompkins County as the agent to collect contributions, with the Amanda Bush Memorial Fund. All of the proceeds will go to Bush's family.

Police say the driver had faulty brakes.The truck driver has been ticketed for having an inadequate braking system and driving an over-length vehicle.
