Thousands without power in Herkimer and Oneida Counties

(WKTV)- Residents around the region were without power thanks to a round of severe weather that swept the region Wednesday night.

At one point there were more than 11 thousand National Grid customers without power in both Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

"All of sudden I heard a loud noise and darkness," said Elizabeth Hance Utica resident. "And then I saw trees limbs and I went to the basement for a little while and called a neighbor cause I was scared."

The storm include strong winds and heavy rains that flooded a number of streets in Oneida and Herkimer Counties. In Utica streets were flooded at various spots around the city.
