Prison brawl breaks out at Central New York Psychiatric Center


MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV)--Several inmates at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy reportedly attacked a dozen staff members on Wednesday.

According to the correctional officers union, NYSCOPBA, 12 staff members were injured just before noon on Wednesday, after five to six inmates started attacking workers in the kitchen area.

The inmates also allegedly used kitchen items as weapons.

Additional staff members responded to the scene during the incident and were able to maintain order after a period of time.
All of the staff members have seen been treated at local hospital or urgent care.

Police investigators have interviewed victims and witnesses, but no arrests have been made. Officials say the investigation is still ongoing.
