Seven local streams designated as "high flood risk"

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Governor Andrew Cuomo's office announced that seven local streams have been designated as high flood risk streams.

The seven streams are: Fulmer Creek, Steele Creek, Bellinger Brook, Mohawk Creek and Moyer Creek in Herkimer County, and Sauquoit Creek and Oriskany Creek in Oneida County.

With the designation, the streams will become eligible for immediate assistance from the state, including the elimination of restrictions on gravel removal, funding for new stream stabilization projects that will begin this summer, and the deployment of "stream teams" to assist localities with stream stabilization.
