State Police urge motorists to buckle-up

(WKTV)- New York State Police and the state Parks Department are teaming up to get drivers to buckle-up.

The two have launched an enforcement and educational campaign to encourage visiting motorists and their passengers to properly buckle-up their seat belts and teach the importance of properly securing children in approved child safety seats.

The campaign, called "Click it or Ticket" runs from July 13 through July 28.

A seat belt check took place at Green Lakes State Park over the weekend and a total of 54 tickets were issued. Police said thirty of them were for child restraints.
