Herkimer Legislature approves Thurston Restaurant sale

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV)- A local landmark has a new owner.

The Herkimer County Legislature voted, during their Wednesday night meeting, to approve the sale of Thurston Restaurant bowling alley located on South Litchfield Street in the village of Frankfort.

Vincent Bono, board chairman, said the property has been vacant since April. Bono said the board is not sure what the new owner has planned for the property.

"Right now, the building, as we know it, is in disrepair," Bono said. "Some of the alleys have been taken out and some equipment has been taken out."

Bono said the previous owner was behind on taxes for five years and the new owner purchased it for $3 thousand.
