UPD: Child abduction suspect found, police say no criminal intent

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police caught up with the man suspected of trying to abduct a child in a local playground.

After several interviews with the person, police said Wednesday that no criminal activity took place.

The incident happened on Aug. 13 at around 6 p.m. Police were told that a man in a white pick up truck tried to lure a 5-year-old into his vehicle at the playground on James Street.

Police said Wednesday that the driver told them that he was just trying tell the children to leave an apple tree alone.
