United Way invests additional $15k in flood recovery

(WKTV) - Representatives from the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica announced that it is using $15,000 from its endowment fund to help better service flood victims in Herkimer County.

It is additional money, that is not coming from the telethon WKTV had back in July. Also, it's being used to hire a person who will oversee case management through Catholic Charities.

The United Way also released a detailed breakdown of how your flood telethon donation dollars are being used.

* 50 percent raised went to immediate disaster needs through the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

*35 percent is going to long-term unmet needs in Herkimer County.

* 15 percent is going to long-term unmet needs in Oneida County.
