Utica school board adopts 2013-2014 budget

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica School Board adopted its $138 Million budget for the 2013-14 school year Tuesday night.

All of the board members voted for it with the exception of board member Louis Lapolla.

The budget features a 2 percent tax increase and several cuts to positions, including teaching positions.

Utica school officials explained that part of the budgetary increase was due to factors such as the district's new charter school and an increase retirement rates.
