Boilermaker Golf Classic tees off

By By EVAN WHITE

UTICA - Duffers and runners alike are getting in some time on the links before Sunday's Boilermaker Roadrace.

The Boilermaker Golf Classic is recognized as the kickoff event for the road race itself.

50 golfers teed off early Tuesday, and another 140 will do so in an hour. Organizers say it's a comfortable way to ring in the 31st year of the famed 15K.

"This is the easy part - no training required," said Gina Pearce, Boilermaker Marketing Manager. "And it's open to anyone of any skill level to golf, just like the Boilermaker is for a person of any skill."

Organizers say that this is the 11th year of the Boilermaker Golf Classic.
