Retired Marine Sergeant races for those serving overseas

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Retired Marine Sergeant Andy Purchase crossed the finish line with the support of family members and fellow Marines.

Purchase was injured in Operation Dessert Storm and completed the race in just over four hours and 30-minutes and if that time doesn't impress you…well he did it in a regular wheelchair.

Purchase says his race was for those serving overseas, "I had a theme of going the distance for the troops and yeah I wanted to win the racing wheel chair in two hours and fifteen minutes but that didn't matter I was still going to the finish line because my mission was what is most important."

Sitrin made a deal with Purchase that he would receive a racing chair if he finished the race in 2-hours and 15 minutes. Though he missed that mark he will be getting a chair anyway.
