Governor not running Boilermaker this year; but will visit

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Thursday marked only three days away from the 2010 Boilermaker Road Race, and one state official for New York State will be sitting this year out.

At a news conference held Thursday morning, Boilermaker race officials announced that Governor David Paterson will not be running this year, after injuring himself while training for the race.

Paterson, an avid runner, has taken part in the Boilermaker in year's past.

However, despite his injury, he will be at the start line with some words of wisdom for the runners.

Despite a slight break in the hot temperatures, Race Director Jim Stasaitis says it's always good to be prepared when running in Summer weather.

"The runners should be hydrating, drinking that water right now," Stasaitis said. "Start doing it now. Don't wait until race morning. So make sure all you runners are hydrated."

WKTV will carry full coverage of the Boilermaker Road Race beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2010.

You can also watch online and on the radio via the new B 95.5 FM.
