More than 400 take part in Boilermaker 3 Mile Walk

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y.(WKTV) The Boilermaker Expo used to be held at the Masonic Care Community before being moved inside over to M.V.C.C. last year.

But one of the most popular events of the weekend still takes place at Masonic, it's the 3 Mile Walk.

Walk Coordinator Marie Seiselmyer says she has helped organize this walk for the past 14 years, "It doesn't get as much publicity, and it's sad because this is such a great activity."

More than 400 people took part including 80 year old Bonnie Paratore of Frankfort and her daughter D.Anne.

They too have taken part in the walk the past 14 years.

When asked what makes this event so special, Bonnie said, "Because we're still together and I'm still here."

Her daughter says she looks forward to this day each and every year, "You can never have enough time with your parents. You treasure every moment you have with them."

So if you are at home right now wondering how you can take part in next year's Boilermaker, sign up for the three mile walk or think about volunteering.
