Two men take police on a foot chase after burglary in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV)- Two Utica men were arrested and face burglary charges after an incident that happened in Rome, Thursday.

Cheval M. Gilmore, 29, and Cedrick D. Gilmore, 21, are both are charged with second degree burglary.

Police said a neighbor alerted police to a burglary in progress at around 5 p.m. on the 800 block of Floyd Avenue.

Once officers were on the scene, the suspects fled and led them on a foot chase. One suspect was taken into custody a short distance from the residence, while the second suspect continued running through back yards.

Police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood which lead to the capture of the second suspect.

Police did recover property from the suspects that had been taken during the burglary.
