Shoppers not letting economic blues dampen their buying habits

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Despite a weak economy, the Sangertown Mall was packed with shoppers on this Columbus Day.

Many people came out to take advantage of the holiday sales. However, some we spoke with say with big purchases on hold, they were out to find a little pick-me-up.

" When things are bad people look for something they can do to life their spirits. I bought a little sweatshirt nothing to break the bank," said Kim Guarastio.

Analysts say that retailers may really feel the financial crunch during the Christmas shopping season, but that is not stopping consumers from enjoying their Halloween Holiday. Shoppers we spoke with say there are just some traditions that a scary economy cannot spook them out of.
