Girl Scout Cookies not affected by peanut butter recall

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Despite a peanut butter recall, you don't have to worry about biting into those Tagalongs or Do-si-dos, Girl Scout officials said.

According to the Girl Scouts - Foothills Council, Inc., neither of the two licensed bakers affiliated with Girl Scout Cookies - ABC Interbake or Little Brownie Bakers, source their peanut butter from the supplier involved in the current peanut butter recall.

Little Brownie Bakers is the licensed baker for the Girl Scouts - Foothills Council, Inc.

FDA and other regulatory agencies have indicated that Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) is the focus of their investigation concerning a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut butter. PCA does not supply peanut butter used in Little Brownie Bakers Tagalongs or Do-si-dos branded Girl Scout cookies, officials said.

"food safety and quality are of the utmost importance to us," the company said in a press release. "the Girl Scout Cookie Program is the nation's premier entrepreneurship and educational program for girls and we appreciate your support in the community."
