Average gas price in NY hits $4 a gallon

New York (WKTV) - After tiptoeing around the $4 mark for weeks, gas prices for regular gasoline in New York state have finally hit the mark.

According to, average retail gasoline prices in New York have risen 6.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $4.00/g on Sunday.  This compares with the national average that has increased 3.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.80/g.

Including the change in gas prices in New York during the past week, prices yesterday were $1.03/g higher than the same day one year ago and are 27.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.  The national average has increased 27.4 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 93.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
