UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Friday is Go Red for Women. It's the 10th anniversary of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign to raise awareness of heart disease in women.

New research shows married people have significantly fewer heart attacks than their unwed peers by nearly 60 percent.

The numbers hold true across several age groups, but especially middle-aged couples.

Among those who do suffer a cardiac event, married men and women have a much better rate of survival.
