Identity theft concerns come with security warnings about ACA website

CONSUMER (WKTV) - Government and private cyber security experts are warning that the website is vulnerable to hackers. Identity theft experts say this makes it even more important to get a copy of your credit report at least once a year and go over it.

Problems were first discovered last November, with data transmissions that have yet to be fixed.

Two Republican controlled House committees heard testimony Thursday about the status of the site, which now contains the information about millions of Americans who have registered for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

WKTV Contributor and Identity Theft Expert, and owner of Smart Business Solutions, Michelle Tuttle says the best advice she can give is to get your free credit report once a year from one of the three credit reporting agencies.
