Ilion/Mohawk proposed merger plan for housing students
MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Here is a list of where the students in Ilion and Mohawk would go to school under the proposed merger.
Pre-K through 4th Grade would attend either Fisher Elementary School or Barringer Road Elementary School. Regardless of whether or not the merger is passed, Remington Elementary School is slated to close.
5th through 8th grade would attend the current Gregory B. Jarvis High School in Mohawk and the 9th through 12th graders would attend Ilion Jr. Sr. High.
School officials say there will be more classes offered and more extracurricular activities available for the children. The specifics will be available when the feasibility study booklet is complete.
If the merger is passed the newly elected Board of Education would decide on school colors and a mascot. The name of the school would be Ilion Mohawk Central School District, unless the BOE decided to have that legally changed as well.
