LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - 24 people will be out of a job when the Big M grocery store in Little Falls closes just three days before Christmas.
The Big M is the only grocery store in the city of Little Falls.
All of the stores in Shoppers Square are closing to make way for the construction of a new Price Chopper.
Half of the Big M jobs are full-time, half are part-time.
The construction of the Price Chopper is rumored to begin February 1st.
The mayor of Little Falls says a plan will be put in place to help walkers who shop at the store get to a grocery store in the Village of Herkimer until the Price Chopper construction is complete.
But loyal shoppers are not looking forward to the change.
David Maxwell, the owner of Alkie's Service Center said, " It's going to be a little difficult to make it work between now and when the new store opens.
His store is relocating to the Village of Herkimer in mid-December.
The Curves that is currently located in the shopping plaza will still be in Shopper's Square but will move to the backside of CVS.
