New logo, new pricing system, JCPenney has a new approach

By LEXIE O'CONNOR

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - JCPenney stores have launched a new logo,"Fair and Square pricing,"and marketing approach to make shopping simpler for customers.

"Unfortunately I think retailers, ours specifically have had fictitious prices on merchandise, then we would discount it through sales, or coupons or certificates," says Sangertown Square Mall JCPenney Store Manager Rick Mazer. "We were having the customers do an extraordinary amount of math to try and figure out what they were going to pay in the end."

Now there will be just three promotions, red tags for everyday low prices, white tags labeling the month long values, and blue tickets highlighting the best price the merchandise will be offered at, something many customers like to see.

"I love it," says JCPenney customer Sylvia Nelson. "My purse is overwhelming with lots of coupons, this is much nicer much easier."

Mazer says the company is making changes to become America's favorite store.

"What we're trying to do is let the customer shop when they want to shop instead of when they felt they were forced to shop with all the discounts, whether it be door busters, coupons or whatever that sales promotion is or was," says Mazer.

A new square logo will go with the company's new simple approach featured on signs and graphics throughout the store, all matching the stores monthly theme. February is pink for Valentine's Day.

At the start of every month, customers will receive a 96 page booklet featuring the months new theme and deals.
