Arrests in stabbing of Syracuse police chief's son

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Two men have been arrested in connection with the stabbing and assault of the Syracuse police chief's 21-year-old son inside a convenience store

Police say Frank Fowler, Jr. was inside the Upstate Convenience Market on South Avenue in Syracuse early Sunday morning when he was stabbed by one of two men who assaulted him.

Fowler, the son of Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler, was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the stabber, 23-year-old Demetrius Archie, was nabbed shortly after the incident. The second man, 23-year-old Antwan Underwood, was apprehended Sunday afternoon.

Both men were arrested on assault and other charges and are to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Monday. No word on if they had lawyers.

The motive for the assault was unclear.
