Autopsy results awaited for victims, suspect in shooting spree

HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Friday marked day two of a long, painful recovery, both physically and emotionally for the Herkimer and Mohawk community.

On Friday, police and prosecutors await autopsy results on the four victims in this case and the man who shot and killed them.

The Herkimer County District Attorney's Office has an investigator at Albany Medical Center, where the autopsies are being performed. They were there late last night while a medical examiner conducted the post-mortem exams.

Harry Montgomery of Mohawk and Michael Ransear of Herkimer, both customers at John's Barbershop in Mohawk were killed Wednesday when authorities say suspect Kurt Myers opened fire.

Thomas Stefka, an employee at Gaffey's Car Wash in Herkimer and customer Michael Renshaw were killed Wednesday morning when Myers then made his way from Mohawk to Gaffey's before entering a roughly 20 hour standoff with authorities in an abandoned bar on North Main Street in Herkimer.

Survivor John Seymour, the owner of the barbershop is in fair condition at St Elizabeth Medical Center. Customer Dan Haslauer is still in critical condition, according to his wife.

The Herkimer District Attorney is hoping for at least a preliminary, verbal report on those autopsies from his investigator who was present during them at some point later on Friday.
