Brian Brown on the stand: "This is all a cover up"

By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Brian Brown, the suspect in the NBT Bank robbery and subsequent shooting of an Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy has taken the stand.

Brown told jurors the police officers who worked on this case tampered with evidence and are involved in a cover-up. He says he does not believe there was no camera mounted in Deputy Michael Burger's patrol car.

Burger testified on Thursday there is no camera in his patrol car. Brown said that was not true and that Burger was trying to hide the truth. Brown also said from the stand he never intended to hit, let alone kill Burger but only wanted to prevent Burger from chasing him.

When the prosecution began questioning Brown, he laughed nervously and said that he did not want to talk about the incident anymore.

At one moment, Brown also casually answered questions about his involvement in the bank robbery and then seconds later denied ever having been there.

Brown is the last witness in the trial. Following his testimony, attorneys will give closing statements. Jury deliberations could soon follow.
