SCHUYLER, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Hartwick couple is behind bars, accused of holding up a convenience store in Herkimer County at gunpoint. 24-year-old Joel Young and 22-year-old Christina Sorrentino are charged with first degree robbery.

State Police in Herkimer say Young entered the Dari Del on Route 5 in Schuyler around 1pm Monday afternoon, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The suspects took off. Later Monday afternoon, Utica Police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' car at the intersection of Albany Road and Pond Road in the city. Utica Police took the suspects into custody and turned them over to State Police. Both are being held on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bail bond at the Herkimer County Jail.

This was the second time in less than 24 hours the store was robbed. Last night a person wearing a mask stole money out of the cash register. Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call State Police at 866-7112.
