CHADWICKS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 20 year old Chadwicks man is in Oneida County Jail after he broke into his mother's Elm Street house.

Michael J. P. Mahl, 20, of Chadwicks was arrested and charged with criminal mischief after police received a call of a burglary in progress. When they arrived at the scene, New Hartford Police found a broken window.

Police said that Mahl was found in the house sleeping on a couch and that he had received a substantial cut to his leg.

Members of the Willowvale Fire Company were called to the scene to provide aid to Mahl's injury. He was later transported to St. Luke's Hospital by Edwards Ambulance Service.

After being treated at the hospital for his injuries, Mahl was taken into police custody and arrested for breaking the window.

Mahl was arraigned before a Town Justice who committed him to jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

His case will be continued later this month in New Hartford Court.
