Man sentenced to 67 years in prison for sexually assaulting wife
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man has been sentenced to a total of 67 years in prison for sexually assaulting his wife. According to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office, the day after Thanksgiving 2012, the wife of 20 year old Javon Boyd wanted him to stop playing video games and help around the house. That's when authorities say he raped and strangled her. After being found guilty in Oneida County Court, Boyd was sentenced Tuesday to first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree strangulation, two counts of obstruction of breathing and one count of third-degree assault. Boyd was sentenced to consecutive sentences of 15 years in State Prison with 20 years Post Release Supervision on the first-degree rape charge and each of the three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act. He received a consecutive seven years in State Prison with three years Post Release Supervision on the strangulation charge and one year in Oneida County Jail on each of the remaining charges of two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault. Boyd was sentenced to a total of 67 years in State Prison with 83 years Post Release Supervision and an Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
