MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A six-month investigation has come to a close and the owner of a pick up truck has been charged after police say he set fire to his truck and then falsely reported to authorities that his truck had been stolen.

According to New York State Police, an investigation into the theft of a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck began on June 28, 2011. The pick-up truck was subsequently located on July 7, 2011 on the National Grid substation right of way adjacent to River Road in the Town of Marcy.

Authorities said the truck had been extensively burned and the fire was determined to be arson.

On January 23, 2012, the owner of the truck, Kurt T. Lichtenberger, 24, of Marcy, was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and third-degree arson.

Lichtenberger was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and was committed to the Oneida County Jail on $20,000 bail.
