Pirillo pleads guilty to charges from October crash killing passenger

(WKTV) - A Rome woman pleaded guilty to charges from an October accident that killed her passenger, Wednesday.

Grace Pirillo, 47, was driving on north Elmer Hill Road in the Town of Western on October 19th when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a residence, causing damage both to her car and the house.

She was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for minor injuries and arraigned at the hospital before being taken into custody on $50,000 bail.

Her passenger, Mark Salerno, 53, of Oriskany was eventually taken to Upstate Medical Center following the crash, where he died from his injuries.

Pirillo was being charged with Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor.

She pleaded guilty to both charges, and will now await sentencing on February 5, 2014.
