Sheriff: Man stole, spray painted golf cart in Rome
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Taberg man is accused of stealing a golf cart on Sunday morning. Officials with the Oneida County Sheriff's Department say Joshua Santee, 20, was walking home around 2:00am Sunday morning on Route 69 in Rome when he broke into a building at the Beaver Creek Golf Course.
Then officials say Santee drove the cart to Leisure Village down the road on Route 69 where he is accused of breaking into several more buildings and stealing gasoline and other items. A resident witnessed Santee enter one of the buildings and contacted police.
Deputies say Santee then drove the cart home and spray painted it in an attempt to hide the fact that it was stolen from the Beaver Creek Golf Course. A deputy spotted Santee on Route 69 and took him into custody.
Santee is charged with 3rd degree burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
Santee is being held inside the Oneida County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail. Additional charges are pending.
