Sheriff's deputy injured while arresting disorderly man

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy was injured while confronting a disorderly man, according to Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Maciol says that the sheriff's office responded to the Walmart Super Center on Rome-Taberg Road for reports of a disorderly man. Upon arrival, police learned that the man allegedly urinated on the floor and was sexually harassing female employees and customers.

Deputy Carey Phair was the responding officer. Phair located 43-year-old Bruce L. Clark in the store.

Police say that Clark initially refused to leave the store and was yelling obscenities. After being warned several times by Phair to vacate the property and stop yelling, Clark was placed under arrest.

In attempting to arrest the man, Phair hurt his shoulder. He was treated and released from Rome Memorial Hospital.

Clark was additionally charged with assault and resisting arrest.

Clark was being held by Rome Police in lieu of $10.000 cash bond, pending arraignment in the City of Rome Court.
