UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police responded to a fight in West Utica involving more than 100 people. Utica Police say around 5:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon they responded to the area of Schuyler and Knox Streets where a large fight broke out in the roadway with weapons involved. Police say the group was acting disorderly and fighting. Officers described the scene as very chaotic with numerous fights breaking out. Police say they were greatly outnumbered and several males were provoking others to fight. As officers were ordering the group to disperse, more fights broke out on the 800 block of McVean and Wager Streets. Officials say several people were armed with baseball bats and they arrested those who refused to disperse and were inciting a riot. The following arrests were made: • Timothy Howard (age 22 of Cleveland Avenue, Utica), who was charged with riot in the 2nd degree and disorderly conduct. • Anthony Howard (age 24, of Knox Street, Utica), who was charged with riot in the 2nd degree, harassment in the 2nd degree, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree. • Tyjuan Howard (age 20, of Knox Street, Utica) who was charged with riot in the 2nd degree, disorderly conduct, harassment in the 2nd degree and resisting arrest. • Dondre Mungo (age 17, of Oneida Street, Utica), who was charged with riot in the 2nd degree and disorderly conduct. • DeAndre Brown (age 23, of Plant Street, Utica), who was charged with riot in the 2nd degree and disorderly conduct. • Tekeya Howard (age 19, of Knox Street, Utica), who was charged with disorderly conduct. Officials say while they were processing the arrests they were forced to return to the area on two additional occasions to keep the peace. Some residents told police that the riot was a result of a dispute between two rival gangs.
