Six facing charges after reported party, sexual assault in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. -Six people are facing charges following a month-long investigation surrounding a party at a home in Westmoreland.

According to Chief Dean Obernesser of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, the center received numerous calls on December 4, 2012 about a party that was held at a residence on Shed Road in the Town of Westmoreland. Obernesser said the reports indicated the presence of alcohol at the party, as well as a sexual assault alleged said to have occurred at the residence.

Rome Police Department Detective Richard Galluppi, assigned to the CAC, conducted a month long investigation into the incident and as a result, charged the following five individuals with sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child:

*John Becker, 18
*Aaron Dashnaw, 17
*Devon Williams, 16
*Sean O'Brien, 20
*Marvin Sherman III, 18

The five men are reported to have continually sexually assaulted a girl at the December 4 party.

The five suspects were issued appearance tickets returnable in the Town of Westmoreland Court on January 23, 2013. In addition to the arrests, Tina Williams, 36, of the residence was charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

Williams is to appear in Town of Westmoreland Court on January 23, 2013 to answer the charge.

The individual involved in the sexual assault has been offered counseling through the CAC.
