Teen who shot and killed father in Vernon facing charges in NYC
NEW YORK (WKTV) - The teen who shot and killed his father in 2008 has a new court date, downstate. Joseph Giacona III was 13 years old when he shot and killed his father in their Vernon home. At that time, he was Oneida County's youngest-ever murder defendant and served a few months in an Albany Detention Center following his conviction. Authorities said there was evidence that Giacona was physically and mentally abused by his father. Giacona, now 18 years old is currently accused of attempted robbery and weapon possession for an incident in Chinatown. He is now due back in court downtstate on May 29.
