Two Waterville men charged in connection to firearms theft

SANGERFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two Waterville men have been charged in the theft of firearms from a Sangerfield residence, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Deputies state that several firearms were reported stolen from a residence located on Beaver Creek Road in the Town of Sangerfield and that the investigation revealed it was the victim's son, David Cota, 25, who was responsible for taking the guns and selling them in the Village of Waterville.

Cota has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Authorities said that another man, Andrew Marceau, 24, of Waterville, was also charged in the case. Investigators say that Marceau purchased one of the stolen firearms from Cota.

Marceau has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Cota and Marceau will answer the charges in the Village of Waterville Court at a later date.

All the stolen firearms have been recovered.
