Utica man accused of slamming officer's head into table

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has been charged after authorities say he drunkenly assaulted a police officer.

In the early morning hours of Monday, November 12, Utica Police say officers responded to "UNA Bar"on Eagle Street in regards to a disorderly, intoxicated man refusing to leave.

Police say Zuhdja Cejvanovic, 55, of Utica was being escorted out of the bar by Police Officer Vincent Parrotta when Cejvanovic suddenly became physically violent towards the officer and slammed the officer's head against a table in the vestibule.

Cejvanovic has been charged with assault on a police officer.

Officer Parrotta sustained a head injury and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment.
