HANNIBAL, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Oswego County woman is accused of attacking her sister while that sister was holding a child. State Police say Brandi Thorpe, had a violent outburst that ended in her arrest.

Officials say Thorpe's sister Kathy Whalen was in the process of picking up her three children from a home on Martville Road in Hannibal when Thorpe began to spit on her. Police say the matter escalated to the point where Thorpe punched Whalen in the face and struck her on the head with a telephone. This all allegedly occurred while Whalen was holding her one year old son. Police say Thorpe also chased Whalen outside while holding her own infant son.

Thorpe, 23, of Oswego, is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The incident took place on 11/20/12.

Whalen suffered facial/head lacerations and pain, but initially declined medical attention at the scene.

Thorpe is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hannibal Court on December 18, 2012.

Oswego County Social Services is also involved in the investigation.
