14 year old charged with arson in Vienna fire

VIENNA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 14 year old male has been charged in connection to a fire at a home in the Town of Vienna on Sunday.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, crews responded to 3609 Pine Road in Vienna for a report of a house fire. When they arrived on scene, they found smoke pouring out of both the rood and windows of the trailer. Roughly 30 firefighters responded total and were able to confine the damage to the interior of the structure.

State Police state that the investigation revealed the fire was started in the bathroom at the residence by a 14 year-old male. The male was taken into custody and charged with third-degree arson and was issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket returnable on May 3, 2012 at 10 a.m.

The defendant's name is not being released due to his age, State Police said.

The investigation is continuing into the reason for the teen setting the fire.
