Boonville man accused of forging pistol permit for gun illegally brought to NYS

BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Boonville man has been charged after authorities say he forged his pistol permit to try and make it pertain to a gun he illegally brought into the state.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Robert D. Marmon, Jr, 52, of Boonville, altered his permit to include a handgun that he purchased out of state and then illegally returned to New York State.

He was charged with one count of forgery in the village of Lowville Court and released on his own recognizance to await possible grand jury action.

Subsequent to his arrest, Marmon's NYS pistol permit was ordered suspended pending a revocation hearing. Marmon voluntarily surrendered all his handguns to local police pending the disposition of the case.

Information was forwarded to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department for possibel further criminal action.
