Teen charged after marijuana found in K9 locker search
SHERBURNE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Sherburne teen has been charged after authorities conducted K-9 searches of lockers at two area school districts.
On February 13, members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office's K-9 patrol and members of the Town of New Berlin K-9 patrols conducted K-9 searches at the Unadilla Valley Central School and the Sherburne Earlville High School and Middle School.
Authorities say the K-9 unites conducted searches of the school's book lockers and locker room lockers for the purpose of detecting illegal drugs on school property, following a request by the school's administrations.
During the search at the Sherburne-Earlville High School, authorities say they arrested a 17 year old Town of Sherburne male for unlawful possession of marijuana, after finding marijuana inside the student's book locker. The teen was given an appearance ticket for the Town of Sherburne Court on March 7 and released.
