Fugitive of the Week - Ali Shabazz

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - This week's "Fugitive of the Week" - Ali Shabazz.

Shabazz was sentenced in October of 2007 to 46 months in federal prison for his part in a drug ring. Just a couple of weeks ago, Shabazz was allowed to leave the halfway house where he was staying to look for employment, but he never returned.

Shabazz is from Utica and has extensive family and associate contacts in and around Utica.

He is a 6-foot black male, said to weigh around 145-pounds, with several facial scars.

U.S. Marshals say escapees like Shabazz are a higher priority than a regular warrant.

"This warrant is fresh, it just came out," said Jamie Farrington, a Deputy U.S. Marshal. "We have a lot of information coming in that he's operating in this area and possibly back in Syracuse. We wanted to get his face out there quickly."

U.S. Marshals say Shabazz could be armed.
