Wanted fugitive, Ali Shabazz, taken into custody in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A wanted fugitive has been taken into custody without incident, authorities announced Friday afternoon.

Ali Shabazz, AKA "Sparks," was wanted by the United States Marshals Service for escape when he left a halfway house in Syracuse on October 10, 2011 without the facility staff's permission and failed to return. Shabazz was then featured as a wanted fugitive by media outlets in Oneida County.

Task Force members developed information that Shabazz was staying in an apartment in Gilmore Village in Utica and at approximately 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, October 27, 2011, Task Force members responded to this address where they located and arrested Shabazz without incident.

Shabazz has been wanted and captured by the Fugitive Task Force numerous times in the past several years.
