Brother gives account of shooting in Norway home invasion
NORWAY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Norway man was shot in the arm during a home invasion Tuesday night.
Occupants of 102 Ryan Road tell police that two men wearing black ski masks kicked open the door to the home between 9 and 10 p.m.
One of the men shot 37-year-old Scott Guyer in the arm. It's not known if the two took anything from the house.
Eight members of an extended family were living in the house and were at home at the time of the invasion. State Police interviewed them and hope to interview Guyer at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse on Wednesday.
Guyer's brother, Josh, was not at the house at the time of the invasion. He got the call around 6 a.m. that his brother had been shot.
"From what I was told, they walked in the house, they looked at him, said, 'we're not here for you (expletive). sit down,'"Josh Guyer said. "So he sat down and all of a sudden, he jumped up, he started running, calling my brother Joey's name, and they shot."
Some of the eight occupants of the house were sleeping at the time of the home invasion, while others were awake.
Josh Guyer says his brother is having skin graft surgery in Syracuse Wednesday.
