Two Herkimer men charged, accused of burglarizing church
HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two Herkimer men have been charged after police say they broke into a church earlier this month and stole a variety of items, including electronics and an instrument. According to Herkimer Police, Stephen M. Dennison, 34, and Steven L. Rogers Jr, 25, both of Herkimer, have been charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny. Officials with the New Life Church on Protection Ave tell police that the church was broken into via a window on the night of Wednesday, December 5. Police say they have recovered a majority of the stolen property which included a coin collection, digital camcorder, a video gaming system, and a bass guitar. Dennison is currently held in Herkimer County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges and continues to be held without bail. Those unrelated charges stem from an arrest last week when police said Dennis was selling crack cocaine. Rogers was arraigned and sent to jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. The investigation continues as police track the remaining stolen property.
